The Blyth Community Hall was the venue for the Blyth Snowtown Football Clubs Goods & Service Auction on Saturday with about 200 players and supporters attending the night.

A budget meal commenced the evening followed with the day’s scores, best players and the children headed off to the Blyth Cinema to enjoy the movie being screened for the night.

Clare auctioneer Rob Stephens took to the stage to commence the night’s auctioning and did so for the next three hours doing a magnificent performance and bringing in bids for the night totaling $15,984 – an amount well above last season’s total.

A total of 239 items, all donated by the club members, supporters and sponsors, went under the hammer, with all proceeds going towards Blyth Snowtown Football Club.

Top bid for the night was $850 for a Cats guernsey signed by the Blyth Snowtown 2006 A Grade Premiership team.

The usual trailer load of wood fetched $200, while a box of 50 chocolate frogs raised an impressive $75.

The fishing trip including a carton of beer, food and one night of accommodation at Port Victoria went for $300 and the favourite weekend’s skiing on the Murray with barbecue tea and a carton of VB went for $220.

A “Day on the Green” at Mallala Hotel raised a massive $680.

New items to this year’s auction included a Homebrew tasting and seafood lunch for six people fetching $440 and a Clay pigeon shooting with drinks and barbecue for 10 people was keenly bidded on and raised $400.

Signed footballs and guernseys by the Crows Football Club were also hotly contested as was the dressed side of beef realizing $400

A yummy pavlova with strawberries made $55.

The auction provided many varied items including wines, seedlings, flowers, dressed hogget, kitchenware, vouchers, pea straw, hours of labour, tools, dog kennel, food and Cats memorabilia.

The club thanks those who put in many hours into the organization and for the many donations to the Goods & Service Auction which provided a great night of family entertainment in the Blyth Hall.
