Booleroo-Willowie has made a clean sweep of the Wanderers division of the Mid North Zone Senior Cricket Council Super League competition to claim the 2009 title.
The carry over champions from 2008 added to their Mount Maurice Cricket Association back-to-back premiership earlier this year with a solid victory over Belalie-Mannanarie in Saturday’s final round at Booleroo Centre.
B-W won all four games of the series finishing with the impressive stats of runs for 580, wickets lost 15, runs conceded 509 and wickets taken 40, earning a whopping 303.86 percent.
Rocky River premier Laura was second with 3-1 but way down on percentage with 90.87.
Winning four major titles at senior level in two consecutive years is a major accomplishment proving that Booleroo-Willowie is the champion team across three associations that between them represent the entire district bar Clare and Spencer Gulf.
If there was an mvp award it would be handed to Booleroo-Willowie’s Jordan Arthur who emerged as the leading run-getter in Wanderers with 179 and the leading wicket taker with 14.
Team mate Paul Arthur was second in the bowling with 12 wickets and Sam Keller – also from Booleroo-Willowie – tied with Laura’s Ben Hopgood at the top of the fielding award both on five votes.
Tyson Arthur – who was third in the batting with 138 runs - is this years captain. Also in Saturday’s team were Damien Smith, Craig Roberts, Luke Bridley, Guillaume Kruger, Noel Arthur, Justin Clarke and Dion Foulis.
The other big story to come out of the prestigious super league competition is the overall success gained by the Mount Maurice Cricket Association.
This is a four-team outfit with a modest population base to draw from yet three of the four teams topped their division undefeated.
Joining Booleroo-Willowie on the podium are Pekina-Carrieton who won the Lords division and Orroroo who swept the Gabba division.
The fourth team - Wilmington-Melrose – was far from disgraced with two wins from four starts.
