Clare men and women both won their divisions of the SA Country Championships in Adelaide last weekend.
The women defended their C grade championship title with wins over Great Southern and Strathalbyn and narrow losses to Naracoorte and Port Pirie.
Clare scraped into the final by percentage to eat the undefended Port Pirie side in a close final.
The C grade Men had close minor round games, but their ability to easily defeat Strathalbyn in the semi finals after the previous one-point loss gave them confidence to tackle SYP in the grand final.
Clare led throughout in the final and, despite a rally by SYP, was too good in the end.
Linden Beames coached both teams and was high in his praise of all players for their ability to play good ball in hot conditions.
Saturday afternoon was extremely difficult but the players’ ability to concentrate and compete in trying circumstances gave them good results in the end. He congratulates all players on a fine weekend.
