Peterborough poultry fancier John Schlink’s Black Pekin pullet won the best opposite sex of the Eyre Peninsula Pigeon and Poultry Club Show on Sunday, June 7.

Poultry judge Bev Story awarded the best bird of show to Allen Bastian, from Whyalla, for his Silver Spangled Hamburg cockerel, from 157 poultry entries.

It was the first time poultry classes had been held at the show for many years, with the event in Whyalla on the Sunday of the June long weekend limited to pigeons in the past.

Best junior exhibit and best opposite junior exhibit were both one by Jaxon King, of Peterborough, with an Old English Game hen and a Malay Game cock respectively.

The best bird of show in the pigeon section, from more than 400 exhibits, was won by Justin Robins, of Gladstone.

Best junior exhibit in the pigeon section was won by Jarrad Gosling, of Peterborough.
