She’s probably the first female president of a football league in South Australia but Ruth Warnock hasn’t paused to reflect on gender politics.
Mrs Warnock, of Clare, has hit the ground running since taking over the helm of the North Eastern Football League from Ken Noack, of Auburn, at the annual general meeting in November.
She has received plenty of congratulatory messages and is grateful to have been given the opportunity, but is well aware that not everyone in the NEFL will like having a female president.
“It’s an administrative position, it’s not like you’re being asked to run out onto the oval and play football,” she said.
