Clare china painter Betty Haysman has painstakingly recorded the region’s architectual heritage on a dinner set.
She’s currently painting a 72-piece dinner set, with each piece featuring prominent buildings of the region in Auburn, Leasingham, Watervale, Penwortham, Mintaro, Sevenhill, Clare, Blyth, Bungaree and Burra.
The meat and dinner plates and gravy boats feature wineries, while hotels, motels, fire stations and even the new Northern Argus office are on entree plates.
The soup bowls feature prominent landmarks such as the information centre, Christison Park and the showgrounds pavilion, Auburn and Mintaro are on the sweets dishes.
Churches, halls and Blyth buildings have made the bread and butter plates.
“It’s taken three-and-a-half years and it’s still not finished.”
Mrs Haysman has been china painting for 36 years and has previously painted a 46-piece dinner set featuring local buildings which went on display in the David Jones department store in the 1980s.
Clare CWA members were hosted by Mrs Hayman and her husband Kelvin last month, to see the dinner sets and enjoy their beautiful garden.
