Changing of the guard

Ten weeks is a long time in politics and for Mid North residents looking for leadership stability from the State Government it could seem far longer.

Mike Rann has announced he will resign as Premier in October and Jay Weatherill, currently Minister for Education, Early Childhood Development and Science and Information Economy, will step into the role.

How this change will affect the Mid North is yet to be seen, but it’s well known that Mr Rann has had a soft spot for the region.

I find it sad that Nan Berrett thinks that the fact that the Mid North is leading the remainder of Australia in generating renewable energy is a matter for regret. I see it much more positively. We are providing an example that the rest of Australia should be following. We should be very proud that our area is in the front of the effort to combat climate change.
