The Lower North’s Battle of the Bands Festival (BOBFest) at Burra next weekend will include headline acts The Secret Game and Granny Flat.
To be held on April 4 in the Redruth Gaol, bands from throughout regional and rural South Australia will battle it for the major prize.
Sponsored by Northern Sound System, the 2009 entry criteria included sending one of each band member to a session with NSS manager Travis Renshaw.
The session included the ins and outs of the music world and gave each person a chance to ask questions, including those about judging requirement.
Starting at 4pm each band will have about 30 minutes to play a set of songs, each song should be original but bands can chose to do covers of songs.
Winners are then announced after the headline acts and first and second both include recording packages.
As an initiative of the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council, Light Regional Council, Wakefield Regional Council and Goyder Regional Council, BOBFest has been run over the past three years.
One of the four council representatives, Heidi Crick from Goyder Regional Council, said the money raised from each event goes into making sure the next event can go ahead.
In 2008 the event raised $3500.
This year’s event will finish at about 11pm and tickets are available at each council and are $15, they are also available at the gate.
A bus will collect BOBFest goers from throughout the region, following a similar route to last year.
This will include pick-ups from Balaklava, Lochiel, Snowtown, Riverton, Saddleworth, Auburn, Clare, and Burra.
