The third Ram n Ewe Rural Ball, held on Saturday October 24, was a resounding success, with well over 500 people dancing the night away, according to Ram n Ewe committee spokesperson Kelly Morgan.
“The ball was a tremendous success, quite possibly the best ball yet,” Ms Morgan said.
“The numbers were up from last year and all guests appeared to be having an absolutely wonderful time.
“It was pleasing to see such a wonderful cross section of guests at this year’s ball - old, young, country-based and city based.”
The event generated a handsome profit, which will go towards a community project or projects.
Ms Morgan said Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello from SAFM did another excellent job as MC and has been booked again next year.
Entertainment by Clearway was tremendous and well supported by local DJ Shaggy.
“Clearway proved why they are SA’s leading cover band,” Ms Morgan said.
The coloured wrist bands (green for singles and red for couples) were a great conversation starter and encouraged people to mingle with people they hadn’t yet met.
“There was no doubt that there were some guests who went home far less “desperate and dateless” than when they arrived at the ball!,” Ms Morgan said.
She said this year’s event was organized by a sub committee of Apex, which proved to be a fantastic partnership.
“The Ram and Ewe committee planned the event throughout the year and the Apex organized the bar, assisted to set up, clean up and we were able to get insurance through Apex,” she said.
“The Apex members were a tremendous help to the sub committee.”
“We are also very grateful to the many community groups that assisted with catering, setting-up and cleaning-up.”
One of the highlights of the night was the Ram and Ewe auction, where 5 single men and 5 single women were auctioned for an hour of their night at the ball with proceeds going to charity.
More than $500 was raised in the auction, with charities including the Cancer Foundation and Beyond Blue.
